Actively living in Christ in the everyday can be tough, but here's a few things that might help you along the way.
Be in step with Christ:
To be in step with Jesus is about knowing who He is, how He lived, His law and many other things. But how do I know this? Know his word, Jesus is the image of God revealed to mankind and God has revealed himself through His word, the Bible.
How often are you reading your bible?
How are you ensuring you hear from Christ when you read the bible?
How are you reading the bible?
To help do the above well, it's worth having good quality bible notes that work for you, read it daily, and read it in order. Don't dip in and out but instead read through one book of the bible at a time.
Be like Christ:
To be like Christ we must know Him, so you can't get to this step without reading your bible often and well. But I've pulled out Galatians 5 v 22-23, the fruits of the Spirit, these are the outward workings of Jesus living in you and changing you. They are; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Self Control and Gentleness.
However, to show these fruits, we need Jesus to sanctify us; a fancy word for shaping, changing, making us like Him. Pray that God would be shaping you to be more like Jesus, ask Him to refine you like gold, purify you and make you someone who produces His fruit.
Give like Christ:
Jesus gave the biggest sacrifice, Himself, for our salvation, that we may live an eternity in God's Kingdom (how exciting!). We, in becoming more like Christ, should give like Him. Now it's not quite the same because we don't need to be sacrificed to pay for sin, Jesus has done that. But He does say take up your cross and follow me, the Christian life won't be easy, but it is so worth it. What are you sacrificing to live like Jesus? A job, a relationship, a habit, a lifestyle? The options are endless. But know that what you are giving up will fade in comparison to the glory of eternity with Christ.
